After working on the definition of the MW Museum of Electricity's museographic project, Grup Transversal has been chosen to carry out the complete refurbishment of the new space, located on the ground floor of the FEDA (Forces Elèctriques d'Andorra) hydroelectric power station, a historical building dating back to 1930.
The project redefines the Museum by combining science outreach, sustainability and an immersive narrative about Andorra's transformation with the arrival of electricity. The proposal is based on two core areas:
• Scientific and educational outreach: a large interactive space that explains the characteristics of electricity, how it's produced, the different sources of energy and the balance between demand and generation. The aim is also to raise visitors' awareness of sustainable habits, how to save energy and the impact of everyday decisions as consumers.
• Immersive historical narrative: a large infinity room that shows how electricity transformed Andorra and people's lives.
The Museum will also highlight the power station's industrial heritage, with visitors being able to see the hydroelectric plant and the original generators in operation. The tour is designed for all ages but features two characters, Pau Pampalluga and Estel, a glowworm, to guide and accompany young visitors.
