Ignasi Oms i Ponsa, building a city

Ignasi Oms i Ponsa is the Catalan moderniste architect that epitomises Manresa’s golden age at the turn of the century. The public and private buildings he planned have left an enormous mark on the city but they currently pass unnoticed among the rest of the buildings.

For this reason, the central part of this exhibition was an audiovisual installation formed by four large-format video projections that show the spectator unusual details and perspectives on the artist’s work, generating a very welcoming atmosphere. The projections are shown on enlarged dyed fabrics that are moderniste elements of the author and that give it a dream-like and enveloping appearance.

The exhibition also includes original documents and images provided by the family, surveying items from the period and original pieces, all to recreate the universe of Oms i Ponsa’s times.
