New brand bringing together mining's past and future full of opportunities for four towns in the Berguedà area

The Mining Route Consortium is a public body made up of the councils of four towns in the Berguedà area connected by a shared past of open cast mining (Cercs, Fígols, Guardiola and Vallcebre), with the aim of creating and managing services and activities related to business and heritage and to carry out sustainable, high quality projects. The Mining Route raises awareness of the historical, mining, paleontological, geological and natural heritage shared by these four towns to project themselves into the future through cultural tourism, by reclaiming memory, etc. As part of this undertaking, Grup Transversal was asked by the Mining Route to create a new brand and design some applications.

The challenge was to create an image that would embody the area's mining history but also be contemporary, modern and in tune with the 21st century. The solution proposed is a logo based on volumetric shapes that represent the former tasks carried out in a mine with bright, luminous tones full of life (blue, red, yellow, green). The shape of the logo enabled a range of applications (positive and negative, etc.), is versatile, striking and attractive. The typography is sans serif, stylised and modern. The new image has been applied to elements such as folders, envelopes, CDs and electronic publications, among others.
